TRUSTe and Facebook Announce Disclosure Enhancements and Model Privacy Policy Language for Beacon Partners

FTC Releases Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising

As a result from 2006's "Protecting Consumers in the Next Tech-ade" and this past November's "E-havioral Targeting Town Hall" meetings, the FTC has released a set of proposed principles to encourage more meaningful and enforceable self-regulation to address privacy concerns that have been raised regarding behavioral advertising. Tip: ROI of TRUSTe - More than Trust

A TRUSTe privacy seal provides easily verifiable assurance to your customers that you care about their private and personal information. Obtaining a privacy seal means that your organization has surpassed a set of guidelines, both for how you collect, handle, store, and share personally identifiable information and for how you present and write your privacy policy.

For small businesses a privacy seal builds trust with shoppers by being open about privacy practices, which helps them to compete with big stores.

Large businesses certify for compliance verification and assistance with dispute resolution. They appreciate having a third party handle customer complaints quickly and effectively.
