
AOL’s New Browser Contains Built-In TRUSTe Protection
Netscape 8.0, which AOL released on May 19, is the first Web browser to enhance protection against suspected scammers, spyware, and viruses by checking every Web site the user visits against a blacklist and a whitelist -- both of which TRUSTe contributes to. The browser specifically notes TRUSTe-certified sites as being “trustworthy.”

TRUSTe Releases Version 1.1 of Its Data Security Guidelines
In response to the growing number of attacks on consumer and employee data, TRUSTe has released its Data Security Guidelines for sealholders and members of the public to use. Developed with the input of TRUSTe members and national experts like Dr. Larry Ponemon, these guidelines, published in the form of a checklist, can assist your company as it drafts internal security policies or confirms existing ones.

Industry Leaders Announce Email Authentication Implementation Summit

Over the past 18 months, authenticated email has evolved significantly from concept to implementation. Given the significant benefits of authentication solutions such as the Sender Policy Framework and Sender ID, an industry coalition of more than three dozen organizations, including Microsoft and TRUSTe, have come together to plan the 2005 Email Authentication Implementation Summit, which will be held on July 12, 2005, in New York City.

TRUSTe Privacy Alert: Cracking Down on the Bad Guys

As spoofers begin copying the TRUSTe seal into emails designed to defraud consumers, TRUSTe launches the “Privacy Alert” blacklist -- a real-time, Web-based list of Web sites using the TRUSTe seal illegally. The coalition planning the 2005 Email Authentication Implementation Summit have launched a Web site to provide the email industry with the latest information on email authentication standards and solutions. In addition to information about the coalition’s July event, the Web site includes a resources page with links to IP-based solutions, cryptographic solutions, news stories, and other resources. Following the summit the organizers will post free, on-demand Web casts of the major sessions on the site.
